Somali National Women Organization

The Somali National Women Organization (SNWO) was founded in early 1960 after Somalia gained independence. It is a nonprofit making and Women Umbrella Organization that is legally registered in compliance with Somalia’s constitution and laws. The organization was founded by a group of Somali women professionals

who are voluntarily committed to uniting Somali women in order to ensure their active involvement in community and government

activities at all levels: local, regional, and national. The goal of the SWNO is to bring women together and strengthen them socially, economically, and politically so that they can meet the particular issues that they face in society.
