The Arab Women Authority, from its permanent headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, has announced that it is close to reaching agreement on, and signing, a joint international pact bringing together a broad network of international non-governmental organizations.

The strategic pact aims to give exceptional attention to global initiatives and efforts to reduce the risks and harms resulting from delayed early detection of breast and cervical cancer.
The new international pact focuses on intensifying effective coordination and cooperation to ensure that women receive appropriate healthcare and treatment, particularly in countries facing severe shortages of medical capacity and fragile health systems.

In an official statement issued from the Authority’s Geneva headquarters, Yasmine Bekdache, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab Women Authority, revealed that early next year will see a major event: the summit of Monte Rosa, Switzerland’s highest peak, will host a large-scale media gathering of international organizations and institutions supporting the global campaign to treat breast and cervical cancer.

Bekdache explained that the gathering will culminate in the signing of the non-governmental international pact, which will draw up a comprehensive roadmap and develop effective field-based projects and action plans to energize the international campaign and broaden its global impact.

The Assistant Secretary-General concluded her statement by affirming that the Arab Women Authority, which leads the International Alliance to Eradicate Breast Cancer, is committed to continuing its diplomatic and humanitarian efforts from its Geneva base to rally international support and combine efforts and initiatives, while involving major international institutions in close cooperation with the World Health Organization, in order to achieve all the sustainable humanitarian and health goals of the campaign.
