The Arab Women Authority has completed its consultations with a number of international non-governmental organizations to establish an international civil alliance aimed at developing a comprehensive plan to eliminate breast cancer.

Yasmin Bekdache, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab Women Authority, stated in a press release issued today that the Authority is engaged in ongoing discussions and coordination with several NGOs in Europe and the United States. These organizations are focused on advancing the role of women in developing societies and enhancing access to healthcare for women—particularly through the alignment of effective and impactful efforts to mitigate the consequences of this disease, which claims the lives of thousands of women each year, according to statistics from the World Health Organization.

She further noted that a meeting is scheduled to take place at the United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland, where participating organizations will sign the alliance charter for the international campaign. This initiative aims to eliminate breast cancer by strengthening and coordinating mechanisms of cooperation and support among international institutions, specialized breast cancer research centers, and relevant pharmaceutical companies. The initiative is led by the Arab Women Authority in collaboration with a German organization and another from the United States.
